When they were sixteen years old, Catelynn and Tyler had to make a harder decision than many adults will ever face: should they raise a child they couldn’t provide for or give her up for adoption? It’s clear that it wasn’t easy for them to decide to place Carly up for adoption, and their parents didn’t make it any easier. Catelynn’s mother April and Tyler’s father Butch (who were romantically involved at the time) made it very clear they didn’t approve of their children’s decision with their grandchild. In fact, April and Butch attempted to get custody of Carly the same day that Catelynn and Tyler put her up for adoption!
Experiences like these have a way of fusing people together, and Catelynn and Tyler have been inseparable ever since. Their relationship wasn’t without its challenges, though, and they even spent some time on Marriage Boot Camp trying to work things out.
