Five: Sophia and Cosmetics

Farrah is really into her looks. Makeup, fashion, plastic surgery… Any thing dealing with Farrah’s appearances is pretty high on her priority list. Farrah’s insistence on looking good reaches to Sophia in some questionable ways.

Not only does Farrah allow Sophia to wear makeup to school, she fought the school’s principal on the matter. “So I said to them — and I proved my point because then the principal switched schools — I go, ‘Well then you should take off your makeup. If you don’t want little girls coming to school with makeup then don’t wear makeup,’” Farrah said. “And then ever since I’ve seen that principal she hasn’t had makeup on her face.”

Back up a few years, to when little Sophia was three years old, Farrah shared the story of how she waxed Sophia’s eye brows. (One more time… Farrah Abraham waxed a three-year-old’s eyebrows.) In 2013, Farrah wrote on her blog:

“I told sophia (my daughter who is a late 3 years old) of the little issue on her brow, and I showed her how I waxed mine off, so I tryed to wax her,” Farrah wrote on her Sulia blog, adding, “…sophia was freaking out, so I had to act like it was a cool science project to get the wax off. PLOT TO END THIS: Sophia feel a sleep, I got my tweezers and Pluck-pluck-pluck…”

Moms everywhere came forward to school Farrah on instilling body-positivity in children. Farrah never pays attention to the advice of other’s though.

Weeks later, in an interview, she voiced her opinion on Sophia and plastic surgery, saying “So when Sophia is at the age where she wants her teeth to be cosmetically done or maybe get a breast augmentation, or she is questioning, ‘Hey mom I envision myself like this, I’m not myself,’ of course I am going to be supportive and make her feel loved and like herself.” She added, “I would find the best doctor and be there for her.”

Oh, Sophia…

At the end of the day, Farrah loves her kid. No one can deny that. Sometimes all that love just comes out wrong.
