According to Maci, Bentley doesn’t even want to see his father.. and now he’s old enough to make those decisions for himself.
“I mean, obviously everyone is entitled to feel how they want to feel or [to] have their own opinion. But I think definitely throughout the season, the audience is going to be able to see Bentley and his growth and get to know a deeper side of him and how he feels,” Maci told In Touch.
“Honestly, if I’m going to respond, it would just be that, I have raised Bentley to be an individual, to be himself and it’s okay to feel however he feels,” she spilled, adding, “I have not raised him to give anybody the ability or the power to influence him, not even me. So there’s that. Really nothing else to say.”
During the episode, Maci even told producers: “I couldn’t tell you the last time the words ‘I want to see my dad’ came out of his mouth.”
What do YOU think about Bentley’s reaction?
In last week’s episode, Maci doubles down on the fact that Bentley is taking some space from Ryan.
“Bentley hasn’t seen his dad in a long time, and he’s made boundaries to keep his distance until they go to therapy together,” Maci reveals. “So I’m not sure if he’s going to want to go to Jagger’s birthday.”
But Bentley revealed the opposite, accepting an invite from Mimi Jen to attend the party.
“It’s your brother,” Maci told Bentley. “Don’t let all of us adults screw it up for all you children.”
But Mimi getting the parties “mixed up” threw some more drama into the mix.
Bentley seemed more stressed about this, and Maci picked up on this.
“He was willing to do [see Ryan] for his brother’s birthday, in the most safe environment if he had to be around them, but can he really enjoy it in a physical place that gives him anxiety?” Maci vented to Taylor. “This is a lose lose situation. Now he has agreed to go. He is going to feel he can’t back out, that is going back on something he said he will do and he doesn’t like it when people do that to him.”
Now, Mackenzie is starting waves with her recent post.
